Having an entertaining company of the dancers and musicians enchanting the atmosphere, with men of importance gathered, the charm of royalty is never complete without good heady liquor. From the Mughals to the great kings of South, all enjoyed their taste of this brew. Moving ahead, the connoisseurs carried it across the mountains and seas to far off lands. Introducing the spirit of Indian liquor and its enigma to different lands and  different culture, we, "Amrut Distilleries Ltd.", started our business operation in the year 1948. Infused with the strength of perseverance and dedication, we have always aimed high since our inception. Subsequently, we have been triumphant and progressive in our approach to be the leading global player in the wine industry. Further, we have established ourselves as one of the prominent manufacturers and exporters of Amrut Single Malt Whisky, Maq Scotch Whisky, Maqintosh Premium whisky, Prestige Blended Whisky, Club House Whisky, Bejois Napoleon Brandy, etc.

Amrut Distilleries Ltd. is part of the Jagdale Group, based in the southern Indian city of Bangalore. Founded by Late Mr. Radhakrishna Jagdale, the group initially started as a small liquor blending and bottling unit. Amrut's foray into the market began in the 1950s and 1960s with its dark rum, "Amrut XXX", and "Silver Cup Brandy", catering to the Indian armed forces and the civilian market. Since then, for over four decades, the company's products have retained their popularity amongst the military personnel, besides gaining equal prominence amongst the civilian population in the South Indian states.

In the early 1970s, the company embarked on the manufacture of grape brandy from the famous Bangalore blue grapes with initial technology from the Central Food & Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) which is a premier food technology institute run by the Government of India. The company still produces and markets its brandy "Bejois", which is extremely popular in the South Indian states and amongst the armed forces. Gaining a richer experience from brandy distillation during the 1970s, Amrut Distilleries embarked on distilling Malt Whisky in the early 1980s. Over the subsequent two decades, several Scottish experts helped to refine the distillation and maturation practices. Today, we operate one distillery and two bottling plants in the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The total turnover of the company is in the excess of Rs. 1 billion and have 700 people working under it.

Witnessing the huge leap in its market, the company had launched its own brand of 100% Scotch Whisky under the brand name of "Maq Scotch Whisky" via getting engaged in bilateral trade. This step was made in joint cooperation with M/s Inver House Distilleries Ltd., Scotland and ADL. Such global initiatives have put the company in the global scene with an exclusive panache. Our Quality
Quality have been of paramount importance to us. We observe strict measures to ensure quality of each and everything that is related to our product, may it be the raw material or packaging of the finished products. Fermentation is performed with absolute care because this process determines the level and intensity of aroma, flavour, bouque and the alcohol content in the wine. The complete process is slow and low temperature process, carried under thorough hygienic atmosphere. Testing and checking of the finished product is conducted in regard to flavour, aroma, complexity, taste and purity of the wine obtained after processing from experts having relative experience in the wine industry. Packaging of the wines is done under intense inspection to install seals so that it ensures no loss in the flavour, despite of the long years of preservation making the vintage wine to relish upon.

We have two marketing divisions, one dedicated to the institutional sales to the armed forces across whole India and other focuses upon the civilian market spread in the three Southern states and four Northern and Eastern states. We also pay great importance to the distribution channel and proximity of the human resources in the marketing area.
